David Lee is a New York Knick

The Knicks chose former Florida forward David Lee with the final selection of the first round of the NBA draft.

Lee's draft-hopeful teammates Anthony Roberson and Matt Walsh were not selected in either round of the draft. From the Orlando Sentinel:
``I don't know who told Matt Walsh that he was going to be a first-round pick, but whoever told him that was an idiot,'' [ESPN analyst Jay] Bilas said.

Roberson is headed to the NBA as well

David Lee graduated, Matt Walsh signed with an agent, and now Anthony Roberson has also announced he's NBA-bound.

Looks like Florida will have to do a little re-building.

But there is a silver lining for Florida fans. Now we have three more reasons to tune into NBA games next season.

Florida State QB has lost his mind

This isn't Gator related perse - but it's just too insane to pass up. From CNNSI:
Suspended Florida State quarterback Wyatt Sexton was doused by pepper spray and taken to a hospital by police after he was found laying in the street and identifying himself as God.

It's official

Matt Walsh announced his decision... sort of

(image from the Orlando Sentinel)

Florida guard Matt Walsh told the Orlando Sentinel that's he's nearly certain he'll opt for the NBA draft instead of returning to UF next season.
"I think I'm going to stay in the draft -- like 99 percent," Walsh told the Orlando Sentinel on Sunday. "Chances are, right now, I'm not coming back. I've had such good workouts. I've had six workouts with teams that have all went great. I feel like at this point, I'll probably still stay in."

From the same article:
Florida guard Anthony Roberson, who already said he planned to hire an agent despite remaining without one, told reporters at last week's pre-draft camp in Chicago that he is 95 percent certain he also will not return to the Gators next season.

Roberson gets a little NBA attention

Gator basketball standouts Anthony Roberson and Matt Walsh have until the 21st to make their final decision about whether they'll attend UF next season or take a shot at the NBA.

Both players have been busy trying to impress NBA scouts. Roberson's making a little headway this week, with workouts scheduled with another seven or eight more teams.

Coach Billy Donovan seems to think both guys are leaning toward the NBA. From Gatorsports.com:
"I think right now all their mindsets are to go, but I think at the end of the process when they have to make that final decision, they'll be a little bit more well-educated and informed," Donovan said.

Baseball is boring

That is all.

Gator recruit is an earthquake waiting to happen.

That's what Gator Country's saying (link via Yahoo). Carl Johnson is one of the hottest offensive prospects in the country, and now Florida's got an oral committment.

Pistons head to finals

Udonis Haslem was no match for Rasheed Wallace in game seven, as Detroit moved past the Miami Heat to head into the NBA finals. There will be no former Gators in the finals matchup. Oh well...

Walsh loses his locks

Not only does Matt Walsh have a new look - he's also getting increased attention from NBA scouts. From CNNSI:
Florida junior forward Matt Walsh, whose collegiate locks were of a curly, bouncy sort, shaved his head on the eve of his audition for the Memphis Grizzlies on May 25.
...Walsh told SI.com that his advisors would hear things like, "What's the deal with his hair?," or "Is this guy a pothead?" -- "because of the way I looked," he said. "So I just said, 'Screw it -- I'll erase any thought of it'." And out came the clippers.
...Walsh, a 6-6 guard and one of the SEC's top players, wasn't on any first-round draft boards when he declared this spring as a junior, but has recently turned some heads with his play rather than his hair.
"My first impression [when I declared] was that I would be back at school," he told SI.com. "But I've had such good workouts and such positive feedback that now I'm in it for real."

Where are the crowds for Gator baseball?

Seriously?

They're at home, twiddling their thumbs until football season starts. Duhhh.

Matt Walsh still undecided

Florida guard Matt Walsh has a new haircut, renewed interest from the NBA, and a ton of cockiness. From the Tampa Tribune:
``It's more than just dabbling my feet in the water. At this point I'm pretty serious about it,'' Walsh told NBA.com. ``As of right now I want to be playing in the playoffs next season, and not the NCAA tournament.''

Spurrier has lofty goals

Steve Spurrier, former Florida head coach and first year South Carolina head coach, has made a pretty substantial commitment to the Gamecocks. The the Gainesville Sun has these quotes from the SEC Spring Meetings:
"I've set a goal to be the winningest coach in South Carolina history," he said. "I need 65 wins."
"...South Carolina has not achieved much, as we all know. No divisions. No SECs. No top 10s. We've got a lot of room up here to do things that have never been done before. That's the challenge and the fun part, doing something that's never been done; to do things that some people say can't be done. I've got that opportunity."
